I just received an email about a writing contest for fiction and poetry at Sycamore Review, but they charge a reading fee. What do you think about this? Writers have enough trouble getting our work out there and earning even a small amount, so is it worth paying a reader? Perhaps it depends on the prize--$1000, $500?

Blog or website?
I was researching whether I should try hosting my own website after reading another writing site. I've always used blogs and feel comfortable with this format. What I found out was that there's no such thing as a free website. Blogging is free and, for my purposes, perfect. A website may be something I'll try in the future.
Purpose
I created this site to discuss writing, the process, and to share pieces with you. I'm interesed in how to get writing work, writing for a specific audience, and using different formats for various purposes. So these are some topics I'll be exploring here.
